What does stepping into the unknown really feel like?
I remember my first day as if it were yesterday - a mix of excitement and nerves as I transitioned from education into the unfamiliar world of manufacturing. The processes, the terminology, the pace… everything was new to me, yet my commitment to learning quickly outweighed any initial uncertainty. That same curiosity continues to shape what I enjoy most about my work today: working closely with customers, supporting the development of new products, solving challenges, and ensuring that every requirement is handled with precision and care.
In purchasing, I approach each sourcing decision as a strategic puzzle, searching for the best materials to achieve the perfect final product. And while the work itself is meaningful, for me the real strength lies in our team in Mexico. We may not always agree, but we trust one another, work hard, and know how to enjoy the journey.
How does delfort empower its people?
For me, the most defining characteristic of delfort is the trust placed in its employees. Since the acquisition, I have felt empowered to make decisions, take ownership, and contribute ideas freely. delfort creates an environment where people feel valued and empowered, and that’s something truly special and not easy to find elsewhere.
One of the most valuable abilities I’ve developed here is understanding people - recognizing different personalities and learning how to collaborate effectively with each of them. I’ve learned to stay patient and resilient in demanding situations, and approach challenges with a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset. These experiences have made me more confident in handling any situation that comes my way.
Do you have a standout memory from your time here?
There are many unforgettable moments that become part of my personal delfort history. One that still makes me smile happened in 2017 on my way back from training in Virginia: after a refueling stop, the back of the truck opened and several bags simply vanished. Luckily, my personal phone and bag survived, but everything else was gone. It was stressful in the moment but today it’s one of those stories that people who’ve been here a while all recognize - the kind that reminds you how far you’ve come and how many memories you’ve collected along the way.
Who is an “unsung hero” in your team?
Angel, our printing process coordinator, immediately comes to mind. He started in this field with no prior experience and has developed into a true expert through dedication and hard work. Despite having limited formal training, he is always eager to learn and just as willing to share his knowledge, helping the team consistently meet both production and quality expectations. His commitment, steady performance, and readiness to support others make him an invaluable member of our team.
What’s the simplest habit that makes the biggest difference?
A piece of advice from a colleague still guides me every day: document everything - not because I doubt anyone, but because clear records ensure transparency, accuracy, and smooth communication. This simple habit has helped me prevent misunderstandings, resolve issues faster, and collaborate more effectively across teams. Over time, it has become one of the most valuable tools in my work.
How do we prepare for the next 20 years?
Looking ahead, I believe delfort should continue investing in training, particularly in emerging printing technologies, and strengthen cross‑training between departments. Building versatile, future‑ready teams will help us adapt to industry changes and maintain strong performance in the years to come.
As for the footprint I hope to leave, it’s the idea that you don’t need the “perfect” background to succeed - curiosity, dedication, and the courage to take risks can open doors you never expected. My hope is that my own journey encourages others to embrace challenges, explore new paths, and grow into roles they may never have imagined for themselves.
